Vicky Cornell (Karayiannis), viuda de Chris Cornell, escribió una carta al cantante, a una semana de su muerte, misma que compartió con el público a través de Billboard, en la que habla del amor que siempre hubo entre ellos y le pide perdón por no estar en sus últimas horas a su lado.
En la carta, además, le promete seguir adelante por su hijos y por él, sabiendo que algún día volverán a estar juntos.
“Para mi dulce Christopher:
Fuiste el mejor padre, esposo y yerno. Tu paciencia, empatía y amor siempre estaban presentes.
Siempre decías que yo te salvé, que no estarías vivo de no ser por mí. Mi corazón se hinchaba al verte feliz, vivo y motivado. Emocionado por la vida. Haciendo todo lo posible por devolver lo que se te dio. Tuvimos la mejor época de nuestra vida durante la última década y te pido perdón, mi amor, por no haber visto lo que te estaba pasando esa noche. Lamento que hayas estado solo, y sé que no fuiste tú, mi dulce Christopher. Tus hijos también lo saben, así que puedes descansar en paz.
Estoy devastada, pero seré fuerte por ti y me haré cargo de nuestros hermosos bebés. Pensaré en ti cada minuto de cada día, y lucharé por ti. Tenías la razón cuando dijiste que éramos almas gemelas. Dicen que los caminos que alguna vez se cruzaron se cruzarán de nuevo. Se que vendrás a buscarme, y ahí estaré yo, esperándote.
Te amo más de lo que cualquiera haya amado en la historia del amor, y más de lo que cualquiera lo hará.

You were the best father, husband and son-in-law. Your patience, empathy and love always showed through.
You had always said I saved you, that you wouldn’t be alive if it were not for me. My heart gleamed to see you happy, living and motivated. Excited for life. Doing everything you could to give back. We had the time of our lives in the last decade and I’m sorry, my sweet love, that I did not see what happened to you that night. I’m sorry you were alone, and I know that was not you, my sweet Christopher. Your children know that too, so you can rest in peace.
I’m broken, but I will stand up for you and I will take care of our beautiful babies. I will think of you every minute of every day and I will fight for you. You were right when you said we are soulmates. It has been said that paths that have crossed will cross again, and I know that you will come find me, and I will be here waiting.
I love you more than anyone has ever loved anyone in the history of loving and more than anyone ever will.
